Baroque Resurrected
Revived operatic works by two forgotten Baroque masters!

Experience the excitement of a modern-day world premiere with selections from Giovanni Antonio Giaj’s Eumene and Giovanni Alberto Ristori’s Adriano!  The Ballo Baroque Ensemble presents dramatic and virtuosic selections from two forgotten masterworks of baroque opera. Soprano Céline Ricci and countertenor Randall Scotting, both internationally acclaimed in this repertoire, will be the soloists with a baroque orchestra featuring some of London’s most talented young musicians.  The works are by Handel’s Italian contemporaries, Antonio’s Giai and Ristori, and this performance marks the modern day premiere of pieces that have not been heard in nearly 300 years!  New editions for these pieces have been created from manuscripts found at the Royal College of Music in London (Giaj) and the Sächsiche Landesbibliothek in Dresden (Ristori). These arias exhibit undeniable skill on the part of their composers with humorous and lively coloratura as well as heart-wrenching laments.
